Solution of "Can't turn on Web sharing on Mac OSX LION!"

Posted on Sun 05 February 2012 in General • Tagged with Apache, mac os x, osx-lion, web sharingLeave a comment

I have upgraded my macbook from snow leopard to lion. I have to test some python-cgi, for that i want to use native apache that i shipped with mac operating system. But when i click the checkbox to turn it on it displays a dash in the checkbox, changes from 'Off' to 'starting...', and the gray indicator turns orange. This lasts for about a second then it turns off again.

I went on google to find some idea! After two days of research i didn't get anything. I have decided to revert back to snow leapard due to such frustration.

But then i got the solution.
As you can see in the screenshot of my terminal;

When i did "sudo apachectl --help"
it comes as follow:
#################
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libpq.5.dylib
Referenced from: /usr/sbin/httpd
Reason: image not found
/usr/sbin/apachectl: line 90: 1338 Trace/BPT trap: 5 \$HTTPD \$ARGV
#################

so i went inside of the /usr/sbin and executed httpd in terminal, from here it become clear that "libpq.5.dylib" is not there. So i went inside /usr/lib/ to see which one i have. I found that "libpq.5.3.dylib" is there. And this is what i am looking for.

Even i have tried to replace it with back-up "libpq.5.dylib.backup", but again it was not there. At-last i have created a symbolic link from "/usr/lib/libpq.5.3.dylib" to "/usr/lib/libpq.5.dylib":

"sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libpq.5.3.dylib /usr/lib/libpq.5.dylib"

Now go back to System preferences -> Sharing -> click on the "Web sharing"

After few tapping on the same location it turns on, and "http://localhost/" displays "It Works!" :)

terminal.

XBRL Errors tracking module 1.1

Posted on Tue 24 January 2012 in XBRL • Tagged with efm, rr donnelley, sec fillingsLeave a comment

In my spare time i have developed to track XBRL errors which is not possible through RR Donnelley eXaminer.

These are regarding some EFM(edgar filling manual) violations. In my company we are working for SEC fillings. We have to make them arrorading to SEC's EFM guidelines.

But in that we are making some mistakes which are hard to track.

To ease that process i made something on python cgi and configured it on XAMPP.

Screen shots are as below.

I know, there are more such modules, which are yet to be developed.

Its been 10 days since i have setup it, and server shows number of hits to around 5300+ . And average unique hits of about 43 out of around 70-80 systems which are connected in intranet.

These three simple module has saved a great time of financial analyst in my department and will increase the quality of output files.

SEC proposed to submit PYTHON code for ABS deals

Posted on Tue 24 January 2012 in XBRL • Tagged with asset backed securities, python code, SEC, xbrlLeave a comment

Last night i was surprised  when i found that sec.gov has proposed(in 2010) a law for more regulation and transparency in disclosures for asset backed securities.

But this was not submitting an XBRL or XML source, it is a python code.

here are some lines which might create curiosity:

We are proposing to require that most ABS issuers file a computer program that gives effect to the flow of funds, or “waterfall,” provisions of the transaction. We are proposing that the computer program be filed on EDGAR in the form of downloadable source code in Python. … (page 205)

Under the proposed requirement, the filed source code, when downloaded and run by an investor, must provide the user with the ability to programmatically input the user’s own assumptions regarding the future performance and cash flows from the pool assets, including but not limited to assumptions about future interest rates, default rates, prepayment speeds, loss-given-default rates, and any other necessary assumptions … (page 210)

The waterfall computer program must also allow the use of the proposed asset-level data file that will be filed at the time of the offering and on a periodic basis thereafter. (page 211)

Link to that document is:    http://www.sec.gov/rules/proposed/2010/33-9117.pdf

But do you think will industry allow it?

Well i think, No.. they should never discloses any such code to public, Because its how they are making their money. Anyway this is a proposed rule.

Up-to this point XBRL is great; but if python will be implemented,  it would definitely be a major step forward.

Outlook of Global Carbon Market

We can’t ignore this development. I believe that in distant future, it will be levied as a tax on the common people.

But I believe this is not the proper way to address the main problem(Global warming). These are just quick-fixes, not long-term solution.

Long-term solution requires change at global level, change that includes behavior of individual.

Best example of this human behavior I found in movie in “Avatar” released in 2009, in which people from Pandora are very conscious about their environment and other animal. When such we learn such habit then only we can able to compete global warming.
